Dangers of Smoking

Over the years, cigarette smoking has become a trend that has been picked up all around the world. Countries big and small have all used Tobacco for quite some time now and analysts have been able to study how it has affected the population. Cigarette companies have used all kinds of tactics to sell their smoking products, but underlying all the advertisements and efforts to promote them, they still manage to hide behind the fact that they kill off thousands of people each year.

Cigarette smoking is very addictive and people who start have a hard time trying to quit later on in life. What primarily makes cigarettes so addictive is that they contain the drug nicotine which is a stimulant. Every time a smoker inhales a cigarette, this drug enables the release of epinephrine in the body. epinephrine increases the heart rate of an individual. The average cigarette also contains over 60 carcinogens so one of the most dangerous effects that comes along with smoking is the risk of getting lung cancer. Many individuals who smoke believe that lung cancer only occurs in people who are older and have been smoking for years upon years. This simply is not the case. Young or old, individuals who smoke are always at a high risk of getting cancer in the lungs, throat, or mouth.

One of the most important things to note about lung cancer is that it is very hard to detect in its early stages. Smokers who are diagnosed with lung cancer usually do not start to experience symptoms until the cancer has grown to a very dangerous state, and often times by then it is too late to do anything about it. Pregnant women who smoke put their baby risk of having several health problems as well. The percentage of miscarriages in women who smoke while pregnant are much higher than that of women who are nonsmokers.

Lung Cancer, Heart Problems, Emphysema, Addiction. Is smoking really worth it?
